Pros of Working for Domino’s Pizza

Working at Domino’s Pizza has benefits that other jobs won’t.

If you’ve already looked into the company, then you’ll likely be set to apply.

However, if you want to know more, here are seven benefits of working at Domino’s Pizza.

1. Flexible Scheduling

Domino’s Pizza offers flexible scheduling, as they can switch employees’ schedules.

This is beneficial if you plan to work full or part-time while attending school.

Additionally, it works well for those still in high school or those with other time commitments.

The position with the most flexibility is a part-time worker.

However, full-time employees can be upfront about their work hours.

Dominos has morning and evening shifts, making them an ideal place for anyone looking to move around their schedule.

2. Bonus Pay (Bi-weekly & Monthly)

Some store locations still honor a bonus pay system.

However, this isn’t always possible as it is up to the store owner and location.

That being said, you should ask if they offer these to employees.

You can expect a different amount of bonus pay depending on your position.

On average, employees get paid $5,991 in annual bonuses.

This works out to be approximately $499.25 monthly.

However, General Managers tend to see the highest with an annual bonus of $14,000.

3. Employee Discount & Free Meals

During a full day shift, employees get free meals.

Additionally, employees will also get store discounts.

However, the amount of discount will highly depend on the location.

On average, the employee discount will be anywhere from 10% to 30% off.

The downside is that the discount will be restricted to being available at the store where they work.

So, they won’t be able to use an employee discount at other Domino’s Pizza locations.

4. Health Insurance (Full-time)

Domino’s employees are given health insurance if hired as full-time employees.

Domino’s employees will often be brought on part-time, which means they won’t be able to get any benefits.

So, asking for full-time work is important if you want this option.

Aside from that, employees will only get okay coverage.

Currently, truck drivers who stay after 90 days will receive a payment of $4,000.

After six months, you can receive another $4,000.

Then, at nine months, you can receive another $4,000 sign-on payment.

This equals around $16,000 just from sticking with the company.

So, it’s worth it if you want to get bonus payments while not doing any extra work besides showing up.

Cons of Working for Domino’s Pizza

Aside from the benefits, you should also understand the drawbacks.

While Domino’s Pizza is an excellent company, they have some restrictions regarding benefits.

1. No Medical or Dental

Most workers report that they don’t receive medical or dental.

These are mainly jobs that rank below a general manager.

Once you reach the general management position, you can get medical, dental, and vision.

The standard delivery driver, customer service representative, or assistant manager will not make any medical or dental.

This is on a national level, which means you won’t be able to negotiate any of this, even if you work full-time.

2. No Paternity or Maternity Leave

Domino’s Pizza also doesn’t offer or provide any sort of paternity or maternity leave.

If you must take off during this time, you will likely be let go or reduced to part-time.

That being said, they still have flexible scheduling, which can help, but no actual resolution for individuals with children.

Additionally, employees with children have mentioned that they do not treat child daycare or schooling as important.

Anyone looking for flexible work with a company that can work around these hours should not choose Dominos. 

3. No Holiday Pay

Employees will be expected to work holidays without extra pay.

This includes holidays when you’d normally get to take off.

So, if this bothers you, you should avoid working for Domino’s Pizza.

The only paid holiday is Christmas when some store locations offer a bonus if you work the shift.

However, this is highly dependent on the location and what they arrange.

4. No PTO or Sick Leave

You will not get any part-time off-pay or sick leave unless you are higher than a general manager or a truck driver.

On days that you can’t make your shift, you will not get paid.

You will be reduced to part-time or let go if you have too many absences.

Many have stated that you can only avoid this by getting a doctor’s note.

However, you won’t get paid even if you have proof. All this will do is save your position.

5. No 401(k) Contribution

There is no retirement plan for standard employees.

You will not be offered a 401(k) or any retirement incentive as a driver.

Unless you are a general manager or higher, you will not be offered 401(k). 

For general managers, they do provide an employer match up to a percentage.

Still, you must work a certain amount before being offered this option.

The only positions offered 401(k) plans at Domino’s Pizza are corporate team members.

6. No Paid Vacations

Like PTO, Domino’s Pizza does not provide paid vacation or vacation days.

You must work for corporate if you want to pay vacation or vacation days.

Otherwise, you will not be able to get any of these benefits as an hourly worker. 

Aside from that, any days you take off will count against you, even for a vacation.

So, we don’t recommend taking this position if you want to vacation during your yearly contract.

7. No Vehicle Coverage 

If you apply to become a delivery driver for Domino’s Pizza, you must use your car.

Over time, your vehicle could wear and tear, which will come out of your pocket.

This is true of anyone looking to take a delivery position.

Aside from that, mileage is only partially covered.

High gas prices will likely result in the employee covering gas.

This leaves a driver to have to rely on tips to make up for the loss.
